13. Use AI to inspect and edit a specific asset
Build this example in your Unreal project and compare the result at each step.

First you will check the connection with an addition, then ask the AI to edit a copy of BP_MiTabla using Unreal’s native nodes and your row structure. AI is optional: the wallet and save-game flows above work without it.
A. Prepare the connection
- Save your work. In Edit → Plugins, find Toolset Registry, enable it, and restart Unreal when prompted.
- Open your AI client and configure its MCP connection to the Unreal editor according to that client’s and server’s instructions. Scientific Number Tools provides the tools, but does not create or configure that connection by itself. The address and transport depend on your installation; do not copy an address from another project.
- Ask the client to list the connected editor’s tools. It should discover scientific_number_tools_ai.init.ScientificNumberTools.
- Ask it to read the Scientific Number Tools Agent Skill included in the plugin before working. It contains the operation contracts and Blueprint organization rules.
If the toolset does not appear: check that the client is connected to this project’s editor, that Scientific Number Tools and Toolset Registry are enabled, and that you restarted after enabling them. Check Output Log and search for scientific_number_tools_ai to find loading errors. Do not continue with an edit until the tool is discovered.
B. Check a real call
Send this request to the client:
Use the Scientific Number Tools toolset in the connected editor. First call catalog with query Add. Find ScientificNumberFunctionLibrary.Add and run it through invoke with arguments_json {"A":"2e0","B":"3e0"} and an empty target. Show me the tool's actual output. Do not create or modify assets.
What you should see: the tool was invoked and outputs.ReturnValue represents the number 5. It may appear as a mantissa/exponent structure rather than the text 5.00. invoked indicates that the function was called; the native result and its errors indicate what it produced. A chat response saying “2 + 3 = 5” without a tool call does not prove the connection works.
C. Ask it to inspect your Blueprint
- In the Content Browser, find your wallet Blueprint. Use Copy Reference and paste that reference into the following request in place of the marker. This lets the client identify your asset even if you saved it in another folder.
Inspect this Blueprint: [paste your wallet reference here]. Explain the flow from the button or purchase event to spending the balance. Identify the success branch and what happens when there are not enough funds. Read the graph with the available tools; do not modify or save assets. If you cannot inspect any part, say so.
- Open the Blueprint and compare the explanation with the nodes. It should identify connections that exist, without inventing functions or assuming an empty branch is connected. If the purchase spans a widget and an Actor, also provide the widget reference so the client can follow both parts.
D. Change the read flow in a copy and observe the result
- Duplicate BP_MiTabla as BP_MiTablaIA and DT_MiEconomia as DT_MiEconomiaIA. In Class Defaults for BP_MiTablaIA, assign the copy to the Tabla variable.
- Send the client this request with the reference to BP_MiTablaIA:
Work only in this Blueprint: [paste the BP_MiTablaIA reference here]. Use Unreal's native Get Data Table Row and Break ST_EconomyRow nodes to read the Defaults row from DT_MiEconomiaIA. Connect BeginPlay to the execution input of Get Data Table Row. Connect Out Row to Break ST_EconomyRow, Price to the Value pin on To Fixed String, and Return Value from To Fixed String to In String on Print String. Connect Row Found to the execution input of To Fixed String, the execution output of To Fixed String to Print String, and Row Not Found to a Print String for missing configuration. Set Decimal Places to 2. Do not use DataTable operations from Scientific Number Tools; use Unreal's native nodes. Do not save yet. If the connected editor does not expose an operation to create or connect any of these nodes, explain the limitation and leave the graph unchanged.
- Review the operations the client actually ran and compare the graph wires. It should use the project’s structure and the Row Found/Row Not Found execution outputs; they should not go through a Branch as if they were a bool.
- If the editor connected the flow, compile BP_MiTablaIA and run it. It should print
1000.00. In the single text field, change Defaults.Price in DT_MiEconomiaIA to1.5e3, save the table, and run again: it should print1500.00. The original table and BP_MiTabla retain their data and connections. - After reviewing the result, save BP_MiTablaIA from its editor or ask the client to use save_asset and review the response. Save the table from its own editor when you finish editing it.
What you have checked: the AI works with your project’s data structure and native nodes. Unreal reads and saves the DataTable; Scientific Number Tools does not impose a row schema or replace its import/export workflow.
