Your first media inventory

This recipe uses the example files in the MediaTether plugin’s Examples folder; the documentation site does not download or host the media. Copy that folder to a disposable local test location before changing it. Use only media you are authorized to inspect.

1. In the Content Browser, create a folder such as /Game/MediaTetherExamples. Add three File Media Source assets named Present, Missing, and External, and one Img Media Source named Sequence.
2. Point Present at Examples/Delivery/Movies/Present.mp4. Point Missing at the absent Examples/Delivery/Movies/Missing.mp4. Point External at Examples/Outside/External.mp4. Point Sequence at Examples/Delivery/Frames and leave its proxy override blank.
3. Select all four assets. Open Tools > MediaTether (or Tools > Tether > MediaTether when the family menu is active) and choose Use Content Browser selection.
4. Set the delivery root to Examples/Delivery. Enter the pattern shot2_####.png, first frame 1, and last frame 5. Four consecutive # characters represent a zero-padded frame number; the “2” in shot2 is literal.
5. Run the inventory and wait for its terminal status. Expect one MEDIATETHER-FILE-MISSING for Missing, one MEDIATETHER-PATH-EXTERNAL for External, and one MEDIATETHER-FRAME-MISSING at frame 3. Present should have a delivery-relative path. Double-click a result to open its source asset.
6. Review coverage and findings. Completed means traversal finished, not that media playback or codec validity was tested.
7. To export, choose an existing local output folder outside the inspected sequence directory. Open Manifest.html or Manifest.json in the newly created report folder. Source media is never moved or copied.

For a clean control run, select only Present, leave the sequence pattern blank, and confirm Completed with one record and no findings. For gap checking, one contiguous # run and an explicit inclusive range are required; files outside the range may still be inventoried but do not alter the gap rule. Download the JSON profile template if you want to edit it; replace its paths with your own.
